Rural Community Report

Write for us

We welcome considered contributions about rural places and community life, especially pieces that explain a useful distinction, a shared custom or a practical way to look at a familiar setting.

What to propose

Pitch a focused subject in shared places, local knowledge, community events, rural routes or working land. A strong proposal names its reader, central question and main takeaway, and explains why the subject matters beyond one narrow example.

What makes a strong piece

Use plain language, make claims proportionate to what you can support and separate general guidance from details that vary by place. Prefer an original explanation or useful comparison over a broad overview. Do not include private information or unsupported claims.

How to send a proposal

Send proposals through the Contact page, selecting the editorial question option and outlining the idea, its focus and your proposed approach. A proposal is not a promise of publication; we consider fit, clarity and usefulness to readers.
